We Need a Reflections Chair!

Posted Sep 25, 2009 | Category: Reflections, Volunteer Opportunities

Each year the National PTA sponsors Reflections, a program designed to encourage kids to express themselves through the arts. Hauser and the elementary schools have participated in this program for years, and District 96 can be proud of its long history of having student works advance to the district and state levels. We are looking for someone to coordinate Hauser’s participation again this year. The job description for our Reflections Chair can be found on our website. If you have questions, or decide this sounds like a way you would like to volunteer, please contact Lisa Aulerich-Marciniak.

Reflections Theme: WOW!

Posted Oct 24, 2008 | Category: News, Reflections

The PTA invites all Hauser students to think about what makes you go “WOW!” and use that inspiration to create an original piece of art to submit in this year’s PTA Reflections Program. Turn on that creativity and express yourself in any of the following categories:
* Literature
* Visual Arts
* Photography
* Musical Composition
* Film/Video Production
* Dance Choreography
All entries are due in the Hauser office by the end of the school day, Monday, December 1.

Each entry must be accompanied by a separate and complete entry form and must follow the rules set by state and national PTA organizations to be considered for the next level. Please review the full rules for any category you wish to enter. Hard copies of the full rules and extra entry forms are available in the school office.

Questions? Contact Hauser’s Reflections chair, Lisa Aulerich-Marciniak.

Thank you to all 42 students who participated in this competition.

The Hauser PTA wishes to recognize all Hauser students who participated in this year’s PTA Reflections contest: T. J. Armic, Chris Buh, Emily Cain, Caitlin Clark, Ryan Considine, Taylor Dalton, Vito DeRanger, Jake Dluhy, Molly Ely, Bianca Favela, Patrick Flannery, Wolfie Foulkes, Yannis Garcia, Shawn Hwang, Robin Jensen, Amanda Kostro, Rachel Kunkel, Thomas Linehan, Elliot Louthen, Gabriela Magallon, Tawni Majetic, Haley McCarthy, Ben Mitchell, Sara Nie, Jessica Padilla, Chansoo Pak, Louisa Parzyk, Mollie Quealy, Brian Robertson, Fitz Robling, Nick Rohm, Rachel Sammons, Claire Schraidt, Katherine Scheffer, Tessa Sundstrom, Linas Vaitkur, Cody Vitek, Kate Walsh, Eleanore Waszak, Megan Welch, and Bradley Wilson.

Our PTA was invited to submit 10 entries in each of the 4 categories: visual arts, photography, music, and literature. Because the visual arts and photography categories had more than 10 entries each, local artist Nancy Hejna was kind enough to serve as a judge. The criteria she used when deciding which entries would advance were adherence to theme and overall quality of work. In all, thirty three students advanced to the district level competition.

Reflections Entries Due November 27

All Hauser students are encouraged to participate in Reflections, a PTA sponsored national creative arts competition. This year’s theme is My Favorite Place . . . Entries can be in one of four categories: visual art, literature, photography, and musical composition. It does not matter whether an entry has been created as a classroom assignment or independently at home.

Entries from Hauser are submitted to our local PTA district. Winners at the district level will be displayed at the district PTA conference. District winners will go on to the state level, and state winners will go on to the national level. Each PTA is allowed 10 entries per category. If Hauser PTA receives more than 10 entries for a given category, a nonpartisan judge will determine which ones will be submitted to our district. The deciding factor will be adherence to the theme.

You will find more information – including a complete list of rules, tips for getting started, and FAQs – at the National PTA website.
