violinThe District orchestra concert is Wednesday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m. at Hauser Jr. High. Performing will be the 5th grade orchestra, 6th grade orchestra, and 7/8 grade orchestra. Everyone is invited to attend. The Hauser orchestras will also present a short matinee on Tuesday, April 28 at 2:45 p.m.



Donate Your Instruments

instrumentsDo you have old instruments lying around the house? Do they need a new home?

The District 96 band and orchestra programs are looking for instruments to be donated for student use. All donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE! Please include your name, address, and phone number with the instrument.

What: We are looking for Violins, Violas, Cellos, Flutes, Clarinets, Saxophones, Trumpets, French Horns, and Trombones.

When: Wednesday, April 22 through the end of the school year.

Where: You may drop the instruments off at any of the following District 96 Schools.

Performing Arts Program February 18

performingartsHauser’s annual Performing Arts Program will be held on Wednesday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m.. This year we are featuring guitarists, dancers, chamber choir, chamber string group, the jazz band and contest solo winners. The public is welcome.

For further information about the performance, please contact Mr.Colombo.

There will be a reception immediately following the program. Volunteers are needed for the following: set-up at 6:00, bakery donations, drinks (punch or lemonade–we already have coffee and water), and clean-up. Bakery donations can be dropped off in the cafeteria by 6:30 p.m.

Choral Invitational Festival February 6

musicalnotesYou are invited to an evening of music on Friday, February 6, at 7:30 p.m. as Hauser once again joins forces with singers from Cass Junior High in Darien and Herrick Middle School in Downers Grove. This year’s guest clinician is Emily Ellsworth of Anima! (formerly the Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus). Each choir will perform one song alone, and for the finale, Ms. Ellsworth will lead the choirs in three combined pieces. Admission is free.



Solo Contest January 27

The Hauser music department solo contest will be Tuesday, January 27 between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. Students in band and orchestra are required to participate. There is also a solo piano contest for students who study privately, which will be limited to 20 students and will take place during the afternoon on Tuesday, January 27. Students may get an entry form from any music teacher for the piano solo contest , or download the form from Mrs. Gill’s website (go to newsletters.)



Hauser Winter Concert

The Hauser Junior High music department will be performing their annual winter concerts on Wednesday, December 10 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. All of the band, orchestra and choirs will all be performing. The 2:00 performance will have a limited number of seats available for parents (about 40 seats). We hope to see you!



Magic Flute Performance

All 6th-8th grade band, orchestra and choir members have the opportunity to attend a field trip to see an abridged, English version of “The Magic Flute” on November 5. The performance is at noon, and is free to the students. The first 46 students to turn in permission slips will be able to attend. Two parent chaperones are also needed. See Ms. Lynch, Mrs. Gill, Mr. Colombo or Mr. Collins for more information.

Thursday, October 16, Hauser Jr. High will be hosting its annual Jazz Night. Jazz bands from Hauser, Gross, and RB will be performing. The concert begins at 7:00 in the Hauser Auditorium.
