The Hauser PTA is conducting a special meeting on Tuesday, March 2, in the Hauser Library at 7:00 p.m. New bylaws will be presented by the PTO/PTA committee for discussion. We will vote on these bylaws at the following PTA meeting on April 14 at 6:00 p.m. The bylaws will be posted on our website following the March 2 meeting for members to review. We encourage all members to come to the next meeting to participate in any discussion.

Thank you to Ms. Berman and Dr. Lamberson, everyone who sent questions, and all who attended last night’s PTA meeting and participated in our Q&A. It was a good exchange of information.

Communication between home and school is important, and you don’t have to wait for events like our meeting last night before it happens. Any time you have a question about what is happening in school, please ask. If it is about a particular class, ask that teacher first. If you have a more general question about what happens at Hauser, contact Ms. Berman or Ms. Westin. If you are wondering about district policy, get in touch with Dr. Lamberson. Contact information for all of these people is available in a number of places, including the PTA calendar and the school/district websites.

It is human nature not to speak up unless you are unhappy. We encourage you to also communicate when things are going well! When was the last time you sent an e-mail telling a teacher how much your child enjoys his or her class? or a thank you for spending extra time or effort helping your student? Have you told your administrators that you’ve noticed a particular teacher is doing a fantastic job? We encourage you to reach out to someone at the school with a positive message. Don’t wait for teacher appreciation week to let them know you’re pleased.

Mark your calendars for our next PTA meeting, February 3, and hear District 96 administrators Dr. Jon Lamberson and Ms. Leslie Berman answer questions about the district in general and Hauser in particular.

Is there something you want to know? Please e-mail your question to Lisa Aulerich-Marciniak before the end of the month. She’ll compile the questions and send them to our administrators. This will ensure that Dr. Lamberson and Ms. Berman have time to look up numbers, talk to teachers, or locate information needed to give you a complete answer the night of the meeting. It will also make it possible for those who are uncomfortable speaking before a group to have their questions answered.

We hope you’ll join us for what should prove to be an informative evening.

All Hauser Jr. High PTA members are welcome and encouraged to attend our Regular Meeting on January 6 at 6:00 pm in the Hauser Learning Resource Center (Library). As you may know, a vote will be taken to determine if our current PTA will become a PTO. If you want to have a voice and you are a current member, please come and vote. A rather lengthy discussion took place at our last meeting on November 4, so we will have limited discussion at this meeting. If you missed the discussion and have a question please contact Nancy Hopkins, Lisa Aulerich-Marciniak, or Fran Sitkiewicz (phone numbers available in District calendar).

We will also be electing the Nominating Committee for the 2010-11 Executive Board. Our by-laws state the following:

Article VI, #Section 3:
The members of the Nominating Committee for officers of Hauser PTA Shall be elected.
#Section 4:
There shall be a Nominating Committee consisting of five (5) members, two (2) of whom shall be elected by the Executive Board from its body, and three (3) elected by Hauser PTA at a regular meeting at least two (2) months prior to the election. There shall be one (1) alternate elected by the Executive Board and one (1) by the members of Hauser PTA. The nominating committee shall choose its own Chairman.

The 3 members and 1 alternate member from the membership at large will be elected at the January 6 meeting. It is important that we have representation from all the communities served by Hauser Jr. High. The committee will meet over the next month to prepare a proposed slate for the February 3 meeting. The membership will then vote for officers at the April 14 meeting. Please give this opportunity some thought and if you would like to be considered for the Nominating Committee, or have any questions, contact Lisa Aulerich-Marciniak or Fran Sitkiewicz.
