Procedure for Illness/Appointments During School Day

Posted Oct 20, 2009 | Category: Hauser Policies/Procedures

Just a reminder of the procedures to follow if your student is ill or leaves school during the day for an appointment.

If your child is sick and will not be at school, you must call the Hauser office at 447-3896 and let the staff know that your student will not be attending school. An answering machine is available for calls before 8:00 am; however, if another party is leaving a message at the moment you call, the telephone will appear to continue ringing. Hang up and try again a few minutes later. You must call before 10:00. After 10:00 the office staff will attempt to reach parents at the numbers you gave as emergency contact numbers. If parents cannot be reached, the office will contact the Police Department.

The procedures at Hauser if your child must be picked up during the school day are different than those at some of the elementary schools. If you know that you will be picking up your student during the day, please send a note with your student for him/her to bring to the office in the morning. The office staff will sign the note. The student shows the note to the teacher, and then can just leave class at the approved time. The student then goes to the office, with the note, and signs out. Parents must meet the student in the office (you can’t just wait in the car outside.) If you forget to send the note, the office has to call the student to the office, by intercom, which interrupts the class. If you are bringing a student back to the office after an appointment, ask the doctor/dentist for a note to return to school. The student then takes that note to the office and signs him/herself back in. If you forget to ask for that note, the parent must come to the office, with the student, to sign the student back in (the student can not go directly to class).

Registration Forms Now Online

Posted May 13, 2009 | Category: Hauser Policies/Procedures, News

Registration for the 2009-2010 school year can be completed now! No longer will you have to wait until mid-summer to receive that white envelope in the mail, reminding you that the summer is coming to an end. All the forms necessary to register your student are now available on the District website. This is not exactly “online registration” because you must still print out the form to sign it, and then return it to the school. Registration forms with payment are due by June 10. Don’t forget to also print and return your School Directory form as well.

Lock Those Lockers

Posted Jan 15, 2009 | Category: Hauser Policies/Procedures, News

Hauser students have been reminded at school that all personal items brought to school should be secured in their lockers. Please reinforce with your students that this applies to items in their gym lockers, as well as their regular lockers. Expensive personal items such as iPods and other electronic devices are best left at home, but if they are brought to school, they should be secured in the lockers. Any student who has lost the lock, or who has a non-functioning lock, can get a replacement in the Hauser office for $6.

Morning Procedures

Posted Jan 5, 2009 | Category: Hauser Policies/Procedures, News

The following announcement was made to students this morning, January 5:

Welcome back! We hope your winter break was wonderful and we wish you all great success in 2009. As school resumes we just want to remind students and parents of morning hours and procedures at Hauser Junior High School.

Students are allowed to go to their hall lockers at 8:40 a.m. and then need to be in their first period class by 8:45 a.m. Prior to this time students will wait outside in front of Hauser unless the temperature falls below 17 degrees Fahrenheit. When the weather is inclement, students will be allowed to enter the school and wait in the cafeteria until it is time to go to their lockers.

Student services available in the morning include the library, computer lab, and classroom teachers based on their individual availability. The library and computer lab open at 8:00 a.m. The library is open to check out and return library books and take AR tests. The computers in the lab are available for student use. Once students finish a task, they need to return to the front of school (cafeteria during inclement weather) and wait until 8:40 when they proceed to their lockers and first period. Prior to this time students are not to go to their lockers or to be in halls unless specific permission has been given by a Hauser staff member.
