Family Dinner: Soup’s On

Hauser Family Dinner Night has a new menu….”Soups On”

Planning for the annual Hauser Family Dinner night is under way and we’re hoping to tap into the many talents within our Hauser community to help make this a huge success! This will require volunteers in several areas and hopefully one or two may appeal to you.

We are looking for 20 to 25 people willing to showcase their culinary talents by donating a pot of their “special recipe” soup or chili for our ‘Soup’s On’ dinner. The size of the pots should serve at least 10 (or more ). We also need donations of desserts (homemade or not) for the dessert table. If you have the talent and/or willingness to help in either of these areas, please contact Olga Andrulis.

Next on the list are donations for Raffle Prizes. If you are interested in donating items, or if you are willing to solicit donations from area restaurants, shops, stores etc., please contact Fran Guerrieri.

Additional volunteers are needed to solicit area bakeries (Panera, Corner Bakery, Turano’s or your own favorite) for fresh, crusty breads and butter to go with the soup menu.

If anyone has contacts or ideas for advertising (and posting our flyers in area shops, churches, preschools) …we would love to hear from you! Of course, we will need volunteers the night of the dinner itself; set-up, serving, drink and dessert tables, cafeteria monitors, ticket sales for dinner and raffles, clean-up.

Last but not least, we are putting together a cookbook of favorite tried and tested soup, chili and dessert recipes from Hauser family households, binding them nicely and offering them for sale on the night of the Family Dinner. To accomplish this,we have set a deadline to submit recipes… January 6, 2009. This would allow us enough time to put them all together, get them printed and bound and to Hauser on time. All who wish to have one or more of their recipes included in the cookbook can send them to either Olga or Fran.

The Family Night Committee will be meeting on Thursday, November 20, at 7:00 p.m. at the Riverside Public Library. Anyone who is interested in helping with this fun event is invited to attend the meeting. This year, instead of a pasta dinner, the PTA will sponsor a soup supper with delicious soups, breads, and desserts on Thursday, January 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the PTA and is held on the same evening as our Book Fair. If you are not able to come to the meeting but would like to help, please contact Olga Andrulis.

Survivor Karaoke Returns to Hauser on January 25

Posted Jan 5, 2008 | Category: Fundraising, News

This information was originally posted on January 5, 2008. Please note that the article refers to events from a previous school year.

Parent help is needed for SURVIVOR KARAOKE! We need workers for the concession stand, and we are looking for at least one parent group to perform.

Survivor Karaoke is a fund-raising event created four years ago to raise funds for the Tsunami disaster. Since then, money raised has been sent to help students in Pass Christian who were affected by Hurricane Katrina. This year all the money raised will be donated to “Nothing but Nets,” an United Nations sponsored organization that provides mosquito netting to families in Africa in hopes of stopping the spread of malaria.

Student groups will compete against each other while presenting choreographed singing acts at this after-school event on January 25. Students may monetarily support their favorite group during lunch. There is $2 admission charge at the door and snacks will be sold, with the profits donated to the “Nothing but Nets” organization. Any donations made during the event will be greatly appreciated.

Questions? Please contact Joy Brabec or Rick Cardis.
