The final PTA Meeting of the 2006-2007 school year will be held tonight, May 17, at 6 pm in the Hauser LRC. New officers will be installed, and we’ll celebrate the accomplishments of the PTA year. Leslie Berman will be on hand to answer questions about the now-official changeover to a middle school format, and to announce several staffing changes. Light refreshments will be served.

On Thursday, May 3, from 7:30 to 8:20 a.m., the Hauser PTA will host a continental breakfast (bagels, cream cheese, donut holes, fresh fruit and milk) for all students who made the third quarter honor roll. If your child is on the honor roll, encourage him or her to enjoy breakfast with their friends. Honor roll is announced on the bulletin board right outside the Hauser office.

On Tuesday, April 24 at 5 pm in the Hauser LRC, the D96 school board’s education committee will meet to discuss several topics that may be of interest to you. They are:

• Adoption of a new Social Studies curriculum
• Changes to the AP Math program
• Middle School Update
• Wellness Policy
• Riverside Parks and Recreation Department After School Program

All interested parents are encouraged to attend this meeting. A full school board meeting follows at 7:30. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting as well.

District 96 has created a beautiful new online calendar, so far covering March and April. Each school’s activities are color coded and you can customize the calendar to show you only the events at the school(s) of interest to you. You can find it on the district website.

The 5^th-6^th grade orientation, originally scheduled for April 11, has been moved to April 18th. This parents-only meeting will begin at 7pm in the Hauser Auditorium.

The Hauser PTA meeting has also been moved from April 11 to April 18. The meeting will begin at 6 pm in the Hauser library. Hauser Principal Leslie Berman and Counselor Kevin Wolf will discuss the importance of parental involvement during the middle school/junior high years, and we’ll highlight some of the volunteer opportunities available next year. Mr. Wolf will also talk to parents about his role as counselor at Hauser. Parents of incoming 6^th graders are welcome and encouraged to attend. A light meal will be served.

All 2nd quarter honor roll students are invited to a celebratory breakfast of French toast, sausage, fruit, and beverages on Wednesday, February 14 from 7 – 8:30 am in the cafeteria. Please remind your son or daughter to sign up in the cafeteria by lunchtime Tuesday so that we will have an accurate head count.

Band students who wish to attend the breakfast are excused from morning practice.

On Thursday, February 15th the Hauser PTA will cater a Staff Appreciation Dinner before parent-teacher conferences. Any parent who would like to make a monetary contribution to this event may send their donation to the PTA mailbox in the Hauser office. (Please make checks payable to Hauser PTA.) After the meeting, everyone is invited to gather in the Hauser Auditorium to hear Kathy Muldoon — Assistant State’s Attorney and Commander of the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force — give a special presentation on how to keep our children safe on the Internet. (This presentation is appropriate for adults only.)

Please join all District 96 PTAs for a special presentation on Internet Safety by Cook County Assistant States Attorney Kathy Muldoon, Commander of Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. On Tuesday, February 6, Hauser PTA will meet in the Hauser Cafeteria at 6:00 p.m., with the presentation by Ms. Muldoon to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Hauser Auditorium. Children should NOT attend the presentation, as the subject matter is for ADULTS ONLY. Babysitting will not be provided. A copy of the flyer announcing this event is available for download here.

The Hauser PTA general meeting will begin at 6pm in the cafeteria. Food will be served. (The Ames, Blythe, and Central meetings begin at 6:30; feel free to leave the Hauser meeting early if you wish to attend one of those meetings.) The Internet safety presentation begins at 7 pm.
