Just a reminder that HAUSER DIRECTORIES are available in the school office at a cost of $7.00 for those who forgot to pre-order. (If you pre-ordered the directory would have already been sent home with your oldest child.) As your purchase of a directory is inclusive of PTA membership you (or your child) will be asked to complete a PTA membership form. This form is also available on the PTA website should you choose to prepare it in advance.

If you haven’t already, please consider becoming a member of the Hauser PTA. For working parents’ convenience, all PTA meetings will be held in the evening this year. Attendance at these meetings is an excellent way to stay on top of what is happening at the school itself and in District 96. Please consider joining us! Friday, October 9, is an early-release day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. Monday and Tuesday are non-attendance days for District 96 students.

The 8th Grade Class Trip Parent Meeting has been rescheduled from Wednesday, September 30, to Tuesday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m.

There have been a number of changes to the printed version of the District calendar. The changes are listed below, and the Hauser PTA online calendar (probably the most complete & up-to-date calendar for Hauser events) has been revised accordingly. The changes are:

Hauser: Walk to the Billboard has been rescheduled from Monday, October 26, to Monday, November 2.

April 22
All District: Little Symphony – Anima, Young Singers of Greater Chicago, 1:00 p.m. (grades 2 – 5, except Central 4th) and 2:00 p.m. (grades 6-8, Central 4th).

All District: 5th Grade Tour of Hauser, 2 p.m.

May 3
Hauser: Conference Track Meet at RB

May 4
Hauser: Conference Track Meet Rain Date at RB

The printed version of the district calendar is produced, printed, and distributed by the PTA/PTOs in the District. Parents who have purchased calendars should expect to have them sent home next week. If you have not yet ordered a calendar, please return the form to the PTA mailbox in the school office.

All of the dates for Hauser events from the printed calendar have been entered on our Hauser PTA Google Calendar. We will make every attempt to keep the calendar up-to-date throughout the year. If you have any events to add to the calendar, or if you find any errors or omissions, please contact the Hauser PTA Webmaster.

In case you missed this item of news: The last day of school (report cards) will be Friday, June 5, NOT Thursday, June 4 as the printed calendar shows.

Due to the interrupted schedule this week, only one Spirit Week dress up day will take place this week. Students should still dress up this Friday, 9/19, in 80’s wear. The Sock Hop will still be held on Friday. Other Spirit Week dress-up days are rescheduled for the week of September 29:

Monday, 9/29 – Pajama Day
Tuesday, 9/30 – Twin Day
Wednesday, 10/1 – Blue and Gold Day
Thursday, 10/2 – Sports Jersey Day (no hats)
Friday, 10/3 – 70’s Day (this dress day has been added to the week)

The Faculty/Student Volleyball Game, originally scheduled for September 16, will be held after school on Friday, October 17.

Hauser PTA maintains a calendar on the PTA website at http://www.hauserpta.org/calendar/ (See the bottom of the left column on the website.) Included on that calendar, at this point, are all the Hauser dates from the District 96 calendar, the Intramural Schedule (through February), the Hauser sports team schedules (except Track, which will be added later), and all the events listed on the back of the lunch menu. (This is a Google calendar, so if you happen to use a Google calendar yourself, you can easily export these dates to your own calendar.)

We will attempt to keep this calendar as up to date as possible, but we ask for everyone’s help in letting us know of events to be added, or any last-minute changes. Please send information to webmaster@hauserpta.org.

While the all-district Orchestra concert will still take place on May 7 at 7:00 p.m., the all-district Choir concert will be held on May 8 at 7:00 p.m.
