Officers’ Reports

President: Cathy Louthen thanked everyone for coming and introduced the new Board. May minutes were approved and an announcement was made that Dr. Lamberson would attend both November and March PTA meetings.

Vice President: Tina Duve is looking for volunteers to attend monthly District 96 School Board meetings. It is important for Hauser to have representation, please contact her if you are interested in volunteering.
Also, please email Tina with any announcements/ information that should be included in the FeedBlitz communications. Her email address is in the Hauser Directory.

Treasurer: Marianne Fieseler announced the audit for the 2006-07 year was completed, copies available if interested. Marianne presented the proposed 2007-2008 budget. Budget passed.

Principal’s Report: Ms. Berman introduced new Assistant Principal Stacy Westin along with several new teachers that were in attendance. She announced that the transition to a middle school is going well and invited parents to contact her with feedback or questions. Ms. Berman encouraged parents to have open communication with their child’s teachers as well.

Committee Reports

*Performing Arts Council: need Chair to organize collections at both plays. Contact Sylvia Buh if interested.
*Magazine Drive: Michelle Brown gave update, going very well so far.
*Spirit Wear: Ellen Benya gave update. Chose vendor, sale begins Oct. 1st.
*Hospitality: Pam Liska thanked tonight’s hostesses.

New Business

*Kathie Kunish presented fundraising project called Original Works in which you can have your child’s art work transferred onto just about anything. All proceeds from this fundraiser will help support the theater program.

Intramurals is an optional after-school program available for students in every grade. Students play competitive sports against their same grade peers for approximately 35 minutes. The activity will follow what is being done in PE class. Students do not need to sign up ahead of time, and may attend when it suits their interest and fits their schedule.

Following is the intramural schedule through February. The intramural dates will also be listed in the “Upcoming Events” section of the Hauser PTA website in the left column, and the intramural schedule is also posted on the windows of the PE Department.

Hauser Parents: All purchased school calendars and student directories have now been delivered to your youngest child at his/her homeroom or advisory class. Don’t forget the annual Music Faculty recital is Tuesday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hauser Auditorium. Any student enrolled in graded music class at Hauser can receive extra credit for attending. Students should return a program, signed by a parent, to their music teacher the next day. Performing will be Mr. Collins, Mr. Colombo, Mrs. Gill, Mr. Howes, Mrs. Lauritsen, and Miss Lynch. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Leonard Babb and Bruce Perryman Scholarship Funds, sending Hauser students to summer music camps.

There will be an open tryout for the Riverside-Brookfield Junior Bulldog Baseball team (10 & 11 year-olds, no older than 11 on April 30th) this Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22. Download a flyer for more information.

The magazine drive at Hauser has begun! We had our first collection day on the September 12. We have 3 more collection days: Wednesday, September 19; Monday, September 24; and Wednesday, September 24. This is Hauser PTA’s biggest fundraiser. Please try to show your school spirit and participate! You can also order online at QSP.com. Our school ID code is 425007607. Make checks payable to Hauser PTA. Extra order forms are available in the school office.

The Riverside Elementary Education Foundation (REEF) invites District 96 families to experience Monumental Chicago. Beginning with a light breakfast at Hauser at 8:00 a.m. on October 21, you’ll depart by bus for a tour of some of the outstanding historical monuments in Chicago, returning to Riverside by 3:00 p.m. You can download a copy of the flyer to make your reservation.

The District 96 School Board is meeting at Ames School, 86 Southcote Road at 7:30 pm this Tuesday, September 18. You can download the agenda here.

Parents new to Hauser: Did you notice the events listed on the back of the lunch menu? (Did you even get the lunch menu from your Hauser student?)
